Alternatives.

Read title. See more junk more often.

P.S. Don't worry, there isn't a cacophony of indie kids standing in fields, or constant picture spam. I don't swing that way. ;o

Pointless.

I'm sick so this might be a little incoherent, but whatever. Yay for the flu.

I think I'm an idiot every time I - eventually - decide to write a blog, or try to, or something. Maybe one person reads them. Or at least one person I'm aware of, and they probably read every second one. Not nearly as many people pay attention to blogs like on Ed's. :p

So then, why bother?

I was asking myself this for a while, until I thought about it another way.. why do I bother going out with friends, or trying to improve my musical skills, or I dunno, play a few games of SC2 with the other guys? lol. It's because I want to.

You don't need to go out with friends as much these days to make just-as-good friends. Just MSN or Facebook that shit up, and you can have a full-blown keyboard conversation. You don't need to learn to play an instrument when you're already doing better at like, physics or some other subject. You don't need to play videogames 'cuz there are other ways to pass the time or have some fun.

Just like many people out there who struggle with following their career path, or doing well at school, or getting to know that girl/guy they really like, they keep going. They don't give up when it seems like they shouldn't bother trying. Why? They don't necessarily need to go for that job, or ace every subject, or get that girl/guy. They could try for a different job, or get their subjects changed, or.. well, give up. But no. That person wants to get that job, that person wants to do well in those classes, that person wants to get to know that guy/girl.

Anyways, what I'm trying to say is.. you shouldn't give up what you like doing, even if it seems pointless. Maybe eventually it'll have a point. Either way, it's still enjoyable, right?

Have some fun.

A Stab in the Dark.

Long time no insignificant blog full of drivel, reader(s). lul. Prepare for a small dose of total idiocy, mostly inspired by the many posts of delicious thought food by Eddy (http://smokyham.blogspot.com/).

So, faith. We act upon it everyday, really. Everytime we leave our homes, we are really acting on faith that things are safe. No one's going to shank us on our doorstep, or something. Everytime we try something new, do something we haven't done, we're really taking a stab in the dark. What will happen? We don't know for sure, but we're pretty sure this will happen, or that will happen. Like a complex chemistry experiment. You've got your hypothesis all jazzed up, and you think that will occur, but you can't know for sure it won't, and vice versa.

Same goes with our societal heirarchy. Us, and the government. It's not so relevant to any of us yet, but we put faith in our government not to fuck up the country and make enemies with big people like the USA that're packing a gajillion nukes to pop us to next Tuesday, and then some.

We do all that pretty easily. We assume our faith is well placed, and can happily get on with things. We can get on with living the life that our government's made possible for us. We can continue that experiment, assuming we're right and we know exactly what will happen.

So why is it so hard for many of us to put that same faith in God, or a god, or gods, or aliens? Why do we scoff when we're told, 'Seek and you shall find. Believe and He/it will come to you,' or some other such religious statement? All we have to do is put faith in this big/small dude/dudette above/around/inside/below us, and they'll reveal themselves to us. We'll finally understand the visions and revelations all these other people are having.

There's the problem, though. The variables. The unknowns. 'I can't see it, how does it exist? Why should I believe?'

There are plenty of reasons we're given why, and any number of those can be left to us to accept or not. But here's a thought... if it really doesn't exist, what harm is there in putting a little faith in it? Especially in this case, in terms of religion. I'll use Christianity for the example. Why can we not believe in God, whether or not He exists? We can still get on with our lives the way they were before placing that faith in Him, it's not like it'll make a huge difference.

We have nothing to lose from believing, yet if what the churches preach is true, then we have a fuckload of things to gain. Not directly quoting there.

So, why is it so hard? I haven't posed all the possibilities for why this might be. There are heaps of other reasons. We've all got our own.

Anyways, time to sleep. Done this with half a functioning brain. My other half shrivelled and died.

Zombie

In today's society there's a bad case of zombie. Not the raised dead, and not a city of infected people with overlarge limbs or long tongues or severe obesity or ridiculous jumping abilities; nothing like that. It's a bad case of 'not thinking for yourself'. Maybe it's just me, but I find a lot of people suffer from a lack of any train of individual thought.

Example. Wait for the rant.

A man I shall not name, who's been one of my best friends for... whatever length of time. Many years. He is a zombie. He practically spends every moment of the day at school, outside of class, following me. Literally. I walk to my locker, I'm getting my food out, and then the moment I close the door, there he is, ready for a good fifteen minutes of following. Did he discover I have delicious brains and is waiting for a chance to gank me? Does he not have the balls to think for himself? I have no idea.

It's impossible to do anything I really want to do at school. When I want to go talk to someone privately, along he comes. In fact, the last time was just last week, and we went through everything short of telling him to fuck off, and it wasn't until we just stood there staring at him - while everyone else had figured it out and walked away already - that he realised we needed some privacy. Took his time.

It's difficult. It's like suffocation. He's like a prison on legs. It's not always bad though, considering we generally have similar friend groups, so it's not always as though you look at him and can't help but wonder what the fuck he's doing there. But there are times.

I don't mean to be a bitch, I don't mean to be mean. Or maybe I do. But it gets annoying. He even admits to following me all day for the past four years. He said that just today, like he was proud of it or something. Sadly I refuse to understand the tone he used.

Anyways, rant over. So, zombies.

Why do they feel the need to follow, and only follow? It's not like they don't have brains and conscious thought. It's not like they can't decide to do something for themselves once in a while. Is it a release, to just do what someone else is doing and not choose to do something yourself? Is it a release from the 'strains' of thinking?

Why?

Ah, shit. I had more to say and I just forgot it. Oh well, I'll leave it at that.

Do you have a zombie?

An Almost Perfect Circle

Some people live to make problems. To ask questions.

Other people live to solve problems. To answer questions.

When the people that ask questions don't know how to ask their question, there's a problem to be solved.

But what happens when the other people can't solve that problem? When nobody can solve it?
